Hello Resident,
Halloween is fast approaching! Whilst many families enjoy taking part in trick or treating, we understand that not everyone feels comfortable answering their door, particularly as the evenings become darker.
What is the origin of Halloween? The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death.
How is it celebrated? Halloween is celebrated in various ways across the world, the typical ways in Europe include carving pumpkins, bonfires, costume parties, playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, sharing scary stories, watching horror films and trick-or-treating.
To help make you preference clear, we have a “No Trick or Treat” Halloween posters available for residents to display on their front doors. These signs can help incidicate that you would prefer to not be disturbed. The posters are attached to this post and can be printed at home for you convenience.
Thank you for helping us make Halloween enjoyable and respectful for everyone in our community. | ||
